3M™ Circuit Plating Tape 1278 is a polyester film tape with a specially formulated silicone-free adhesive for masking solder mask over bare copper (SMOBC) printed wiring boards during the gold tip plating process.

FEATURES

Silicone-free adhesive which eliminates silicone removal.
Low stretch polyester film for machine, as well as hand application.
Solvent clean up of the board is recommended to facilitate subsequent soldering.
High strength, stable polyester backing which provides even stop-off line.
2 mil adhesive coating thickness which is thick enough to help prevent leaking on a wide range of solder mask surfaces and thin enough for easy handling and removal from board.
High strength adhesive which virtually eliminates adhesive transfer after tape removal.

APPLICATIONS

Masking of many SMOBC printed wiring boards during solder stripping and precious metal plating of fingers.
