Product Introduction
3M™ Impact Resistant Structural Adhesive (IRSA) is a two-part epoxy specifically formulated for true automotive OEM-specified structural bonding. It delivers excellent impact resistance for collision absorption in modern vehicle structures, including steel and advanced lightweight aluminum alloys. This adhesive offers an extended work time of up to one hour and can be rapidly heat-cured. A unique color-changing feature, where it dispenses silver and cures to purple, provides a clear visual indicator of the curing process. Engineered to provide lifetime corrosion protection and enhance torsional rigidity, 3M™ IRSA is the ideal solution for modern automotive collision repairs that meet OEM standards.
3M™ IRSA Features
- Delivers higher impact strength compared to traditional bonding adhesives.
- Provides lifetime corrosion protection and seals joints against environmental exposure.
- One-day curing process can be accelerated with heat to as little as 30 minutes at 80°C.
- Allows for spot welding (weld-bonding) or riveting within its three-hour work time.
- Adheres to a wide variety of properly prepared steel and aluminum substrates.
- Color-changing formula (silver to purple) indicates proper curing.
- Compatible with the 3M™ Dynamic Mixing System for efficient, waste-reducing application.
3M™ IRSA Applications
- Designed for OEM-specified structural bonding in automotive collision repair.
- Used for bonding mild steel, high-strength steel, and automotive aluminum alloys.
- Suitable for creating weld-bonded and rivet-bonded joints as per OEM standards.
- Ideal for repairs requiring high impact resistance, torsional rigidity, and corrosion protection.
