Assembly of camera modules require a high degree of accuracy to ensure the rising demand for better display quality. One of the most reliable ways to do that nowadays is active alignment when manufacturers can regulate and measure the clear quality of a camera while assembling it.
So what is active alignment and what material is compatible for this application? We will show you through this article.
What is Active Alignment?
Active alignment is a reliable placement and fixation solution for camera modules. This includes software for measurement and process control.
Active alignment helps to exclude the effects of misalignment including in Shift, Defocus & Tilt.
Active alignment give out a ultra accurate alignment in up to six degree of freedom: focus (z); shift (x,y); tilt (ox,oy); rotation (oz) with live measurement and final test just to ensure high precision performance.
Materials for active alignment applications
Active alignment is employed and requires dual-cure adhesives with UV and thermal-cure capabilities.
After locating a camera module in the right position, it is temporarily locking with a UV adhesive cure before put in a thermal oven to create a full cure.
Key features for adhesives in this application
- High adhesion to LCP, PA,PPA, etc.
- Dual cure
Acrylated epoxy with high viscosity adhesive that is a match for the active alignment process.
UV and Thermal cure adhesives allow for easy dispensing, ultra-fast fixation and reliable thermal cure for shadowed areas. Each active alignment product provides excellent adhesion to critical substrates and has very low outgassing and shrinkage properties ensuring long term reliability of the assembly.
