Hearing Aid is the typical medical device in the electronic and wearable category which addresses the challenges of meeting various requirements from hardware design (miniaturization) to electronic design (Telecoil fixing, RF and EMI Shielding).
We consider each component of typical modern hearing aid to suggest our customizing solutions.
- Microphone: convert the acoustical signal to an electrical signal
- Telecoil (transducer): convert the electromagnetic signal into an electrical signal
- Amplifier: process and amplifies the electrical signal from either the microphone or the telecoil
- Receiver (speaker): convert an amplified electrical signal into an acoustic signal
- Battery: provide power to the circuitry
HARDWARE DESIGN
The inner ear canal surface is acidic, coated with a combination of oil, perspiration, and ear wax. Hearing aid devices must function in this wonderland and require assembly adhesives that are impervious to these substances to ensure reliable operation.
Hearing aid assembly also has its challenges:
- Shells and faceplates are molded in assorted colors using pigmented resins.
- Pigmentation reduces the transmission of light energy, which has a negative impact on curing typical light-curable adhesives.
- Longer curing cycles and higher power equipment are typically required to overcome lower light transmission.
OUR SOLUTIONS
Cover Assembly
We offer light-curable medical device adhesive products that address the challenges of hearing aid assembly and their operating environments. Our selection of adhesives includes our LED light-curable adhesives.
- Fully cure under low-intensity UV or visible light in seconds
They are ideal for use with LED light curing equipment. The ability to cure with low-intensity light makes these adhesives particularly well suited for applications involving pigmented substrates.
- Extremely clear in appearance
- Cured properties from hard/rigid to soft/flexible
- Cured surfaces are smooth and tack-free
- Greatest elongation and flexibility
Attaching receiver tubes to the shell
UV Light System
Bench top design of UV Curing Conveyor System
Requirements
- Fast curing process
- Simultaneous curing of multiple workpieces
- High precision to improve product consistency and quality

Telecoil and Amplifier PCB Attaching
Telecoil consists of a bobbin and coil winding and is attached (by adhesive) to the amplifier after being coated (protect coil from SMT reflow condition) by protective materials.
