To help reduce component weight and parts, and reduce rattle and hum in transformers, adhesives can be used to join the various parts of the transformer instead of mechanical clips. Different types of adhesive can be considered for this application including structural acrylic adhesives, UV curable adhesives as well as two-component epoxies. For many applications, structural acrylic adhesives and UV curable are preferred due to the fast cure speed.
Let us show you some typical applications which are optimized thanks to adhesive technologies:
Bonding ferrite halves
The gluing of mated core halves is an important step in the fabrication of inductive components such as transformers. Recent studies revealed the impact of the physical properties of the glue (e.g. modulus of elasticity and glass transition temperature) on the level of thermally induced stresses during temperature cycling tests. The glue-related effects were found to be minimal during normal electrical operation and during surface-mount processing steps such as reflow soldering.
Structural Acrylic Adhesive
Due to their rubber toughening, structural acrylic adhesives easily pass drop tests, thermal cycling, and rigorous strength testing. Product details information here.
UV Curing Adhesive
This is a very swift operation and is ideal for high-speed production lines. The fact the adhesive is a single component makes dispensing and application very easy to automate. Product details information here.
Bonding ferrite core/ rod into coil
A minimum air gap between the interfaces of core sections is necessary to obtain the maximum inductance in a given coil/ core combination. The smallest attainable air gap still results in a significant reluctance between the core sections, thereby reducing the inductance of the coil enclosed in the core. Therefore, adhesives are used to build up the optimizing non-gapped cores.
Anaerobic Adhesive
Using a highly reactive grade of single part anaerobic on the copper helps get over the fact that ferrite material is quite passive to trigger anaerobic cure. Product details information here.
Single Part Epoxy Adhesive
Single component heat cure epoxies are easy to dispense with no mixing or activator required, they are less gap-sensitive and cure when exposed to heat. Product details information here.
Thread Locking
A threadlocker is an adhesive for nuts, bolts, and screws to lock them in place and avoid loosening caused by stress and vibration. They replace traditional mechanical washers and fasteners. They are anaerobically curing chemicals that form a strong film in the gaps between the thread of the connection, locking it in place.
Anaerobic Adhesive
- Faster cure speed at room temperature.
- Chemical compatibility with acids, alkalis, and solvents.
- Vibration resistance
- Good consistency for even application.
PCB Transformer Assembly
Transformers are one of the most common pieces on PCBs. This particular branch of transformers is lighter, compact, and operates under relatively light loads. Transformers can be integrated on the PCB by multiple methods, including but not limited: to through-hole and SMT. For each method, the bonding and fixing materials are different.
Soldering Materials
Our wide range of soldering materials is promised to facilitate almost types of Transformer PCB Assembly processes. They are varied in form (paste, wire, bar, etc.) and in alloy components (lead-free, halogen-free) which are certified by international standards. Product details here.
Single Epoxy Red Glue
Single Epoxy Red Glues are used as a fixing material for multiple PCB Assembly Processes such as Reflow. In this application, components are to be glued onto a circuit board to prevent their falling or sliding out of position on the PCB. Product details here.
Transformer Fixing and Reinforcing
During operation, the transformer as a PCB Electronic Component tends to be affected by vibration, and environmental impact. It is essential to use fixing and sealing adhesive to reinforce its mechanical bonding.
Silicone Adhesive
Silicones are used in a wide array of applications for bonding components and sealing against moisture or environmental contaminants. A comprehensive portfolio of 1 Part and 2 Part Adhesives and Sealants, many of which are excellent candidates for assembly applications on or near sensitive electrical and electronic components, are available.
