2K mixing system or 2K Meter-Mix are used a lot in applications involving bonding, filling, or potting/ encapsulating.
During the production process, this system can encounter errors, leading to substandard products or disrupting the process. Especially when the vendors are not based in Vietnam, the warranty will take time and money. In this article, Prostech will give some common errors when using the 2K mixing system and how to solve them.
Adhesive does not cure
Adhesive after dispensing requires a period of time to fully cure, after that time, for example 24 hours, the glue does not achieve the desired adhesion, there may be some problems:
- Materials not meeting standard quality: out of date; damaged due to storage, shipping,… So engineers need to check the quality of materials before checking equipment.
- The pump has a problem resulting in adhesive didn’t made well. This is a very common error, when the pump is damaged, leading to the wrong input ratio, two components A, B cannot have polymerization reaction, or partial reaction. When encountering this error, the engineer needs to reset the device to correct ratio.
- Glue mixed unevenly: The stirring part of the equipment has uneven rotation problems, the stirrer is not of good quality (may be abrasive if the filter element is alloyed in the adhesive)
Congestion of adhesive
Some adhesives that weren’t stored well, or after the end of the previous work shift, engineers did not clean the tank completely, which will clog the glue pipeline.
Another case is because component A or B reacts with air/ moistures, causing partial hardening, thereby clogging the glue duct.
Therefore, before pouring adhesive into the machine, it is necessary to check and clean the tanks and wires. It is also important to check the quality of the adhesive to avoid such a situation.
Leaking/dripping adhesive
Adhesive usually leaks in two main positions, at the connectors (luer lock) or at the tip of the needle, when the liquid is pumped, the adhesive leaks out the connectors. This phenomenon leads to material loss and hygiene problems. The main reason is that the equipment is not maintained regularly, the valve after a period of operation will be worn out, unable to seal the liquid. So please maintain and replace components monthly to keep the device running smoothly.
Air bubbles
Before the adhesive enters, the tanks are all vacuumed, ensuring no air and moisture. If the vacuum unit has a problem, plus the pressure of the pump, air bubbles will appear. The air bubbles will prevent two components A and B from maximum contact, preventing the compound from contacting the surface. Thereby reducing the quality and aesthetics of the final product.
Adhesive dispensing in the wrong position
The phenomenon of adhesive not being in the right position, usually occurs when the equipment operator is wrong, machine error (rare) or when changing the application. This problem requires the operator to understand the technical parameters on the controller, as well as accurately calculate the path of the needle tip. Read the specification carefully or seek a guide if necessary.
The production line is a circle, any interruption will create a hole in the production process. Therefore, quickly resolving errors will save the company time, effort, and money.
